OkadaBooks, a prominent digital publishing and bookselling platform, has announced its closure after a decade of operation. CEO Okechukwu Ofili revealed the decision, attributing it to insurmountable challenges posed by rough macroeconomic conditions.
Launched in 2013, OkadaBooks aimed to simplify self-publishing for writers and connect them directly with readers. The platform garnered significant success, amassing over 40,000 original books and attracting 400,000 registered readers.
Ofili expressed gratitude to the literary community for their support, and despite bidding farewell to OkadaBooks, encouraged readers to continue exploring literature through other avenues.
The closure is scheduled for November 30, 2023.
