One of the most controversial aspects of fashion magazines, and the fashion industry are models. Specifically, how young they are and how thin they are. It’s a topic that continues to create endless debate, in the press and in the community.
When it comes to who should be blamed for the portrayal of overly thin models, magazine editors are in the direct line of fire, but it is more complex than that. The “fit” model begins the fashion process: designer outfits are created around a live, in-house skeleton. Few designers have a curvy or petite fit model. These collections are then sent to the runway, worn by tall, pin-thin models because that’s the way the designer wants to see the clothes fall. There will also be casting directors and stylists involved who have a vision of the type of woman they envisage wearing these clothes. For some bizarre reason, it seems they prefer her to be young, coltish, 6ft tall and built like a prepubescent boy.
The grand finale of the Aquafina Elite Model Look 2018 held on Saturday at Art Twenty One Gallery. 20 young and ambitious models competed for a chance to win the highly coveted title and represent Nigeria at the Elite Model World contest later on in the year. Was held in grand style
This year’s edition of the elite model look Nigeria has been one of the most organized model castings so far in Nigeria.
With over 1000 models male and female looking to find the best opportunity to build their future with the elite agency which as we all know as been the rise of popular star icons Fei Fei Sun, Ruth Bell, Vittoria Ceretti, Greta Varlese, Benjamin Benedek, Mayowa Nicholas, victor ndigwe and Davidson Obennebo Everyone surely look up to and are trying every possible way to become a member of the elite family
The first stage began with the selection of 100 models of both categories which ended in the selection of 10 males and 10 females
So the final stage was the unveiling of the contestants and Art 21 was branded by Veuve Clicquot
Then the models were glammed up by Maybelline New York at the backstage and got their fittings ready for the main event
The most unique experience of this event was on the red or perhaps black carpet which brought together models, media personalities, actors and all fashion lovers to the event dressing up according to the theme of the night: Chic.

winners were not only selected based on their photogenic qualities, their personality, and their natural beauty but also for their potential to correspond to current fashion trends.
These two will join other National winners worldwide and will participate in the prestigious Elite Model Look World Final taking place in Europe, with hopes of following in the footsteps of Mayowa Nicholas, Victor Ndigwe and Davidson Obennebo all discovered by the Elite Model Look contest and propelled to fame.
